{Craft} DIY Decorated Spoons

I have seen so many personalised wooden spoon in parties lately that I had to come up with my own version !
I love the stamped ones that you can buy from In The Clear on Etsy, but I figured it did not make a lot of sense to have a few wooden spoons shipped from the US to the UK....

So I decided to mod-podge my spoons with papers matching the party theme !! This has worked out really well and my spoons now complement the rest of the party decor perfectly.

TUTORIAL

You will need:

Decorated paper
Mod-podge
Brush
Pencil

Depending on the type of paper you are using, you have two options:

Option1: extra thin paper (like tissue paper or top/decorated layer of paper napkins)
1- Using the spoon as a template, trace the shape of the spoon on the back of the paper
2- Cut loosely around the shape leaving some gap around the traced shape
3- use a brush to apply mod podge
4- cover the spoon handle with the paper and fold extra at the back, completely covering the handle (use the brush gently so as not to rip the paper)
Finish with one or two extra layers of glue.
Option 2: using normal paper (The pink polka dot is wrapping paper)
The paper is too thick to fold around the handle, if your try and wrap the spoon with it, you will get folds and the finish will not be as nice.
So you need to cut the exact shape of the spoon and glue the paper on your chosen side of the spoon (you can also cover both sides if you wish by repeating this process on the other side)

This is a very quick and cheap way to personalize wooden cutlery and make disposables look the part at an event !!
