{Craft} Paper Stocking Advent Calendar Tutorial

This year we are starting a new tradition: an action Advent Calendar.
Instead of receiving chocolates or small gifts, we will do something special together everyday.
Some of our actions will include simple things like Drinking Hot Chocolate or Reading a Christmas Book together, and bigger things like going to see the Christmas lights or going to a show.

I am pretty excited by this new tradition, just knowing that every day we will celebrate our time  being together as a family.

I created this pretty cute Paper Stocking Advent Calendar after seeing a similar decoration in a Christmas Magazine. It turned out gorgeous and it looks so festive.
The pockets are just the right size to hold a small piece of paper describing the action of the day.

Here is an easy tutorial to help you create your own Paper Stocking Advent Calendar:

What you need:
Assorted Papers. I used the Christmas/Winter Pack from Oriental Trading.

Stocking Template (I used the template for last year's Stocking Utensil Holders
Printed Numbers and a 1 1/2 inch puncher
Glue Stick, scissors, pencil
Mini clothespins and some ribbon to hang

How to :
Print the stocking template and use it to draw a double stocking shape on the pattern paper.

Cut out the stocking and fold in two.

Glue along the free edge, leaving the top open.

Embellish with trims, ribbons, bells, paper....
Punch the Numbers and stick on the stockings.
Hang on a cute ricrac ribbon with mini Clothespins

Here is a list of actions we used to get you started. Just make you own list with what works for you family and makes you happy :)

Listen to Christmas Music
Decorate the Christmas Tree
Watch a Christmas Movie
Go for a drive to see the Christmas Lights
Decorate a Gingerbread House
Make some Christmas Ornaments
Decorate cookies
Drink Hot Chocolate
Write Christmas Cards
Read a Christmas Story
Offer some help to a neighbor
Collect food in the neighborhood for a local food drive
Go to a Christmas Show
...

Pop Star Birthday Party

I am so pleased to finally share the pictures from my daughter Noemie's Pop Star Birthday Party with you today ! It was such a fun theme to work with !

Noemie picked the color scheme herself. She wanted Black and Silver with a combination of bright pink, blue and purple. She wanted loads of stars and microphones. And she requested a simple dessert table with only a cake, donuts and microphone cake pops ! (I did get away with adding a little candy too)
My sweet "client" knew exactly what she wanted and I really enjoyed the feedback she gave me every step of the way !!!

We organized for the girls to have a make over when they first arrived.

We had a make up and nail station and a dress up station where they could try all sorts of hats, gloves, hair accessories, jewelry....
They all tried numerous outfits until they were pleased with their choice !!!

Then we split the girls in two team and organized a singing competition. Each group picked a song to perform and had to come up with a choreography.
That show was fantastic and the girls did a really good job with their performance.

Of course they all got to win a special trophy and take home their outfits and some make-up as favors.

You can find a tutorial for the Favor Bags here

I have to say a huge thank you to Party City for partnering with me on this project. They provided all the lovely accessories for the girls make over. Our guests had such a great time trying everything on and pretending to be pop stars (they definitely got the attitude !!!).
