I don't have this book, so I just used my usual recipes and my favourite piping tip.
I made a mini (6") chocolate mud cake and prepared some vanilla cream cheese icing that I coloured soft pink.
Here are a few pics taken while I assembled the cake:
I made a mini (6") chocolate mud cake and prepared some vanilla cream cheese icing that I coloured soft pink.
Here are a few pics taken while I assembled the cake:
Bake a round cake, trim the top crust and slice the remaining cake horizontally in 3 equal layers.
Pipe some buttercream on the bottom layer making sure the outside swirl is neat (it will be visible)
Add another layer and repeat the piping.
Add the final layer and pipe the rest of the buttercream, forming a slight dome in the centre.
Use a palette knife to smooth the cream on the top layer, leaving only the outside swirl.
Place a sugarpaste rose at the top.
More info about the piping tip I used and How to make a sugarpaste rose in yesterday's post.
