Halloween Decor

If you follow me on Facebook, you already know that I have been sewing for Halloween.
Well, let's put it this way: I recently went to a terrible terrible place, for my wallet that is :) I visited a local fabric store and simply could not resist all the gorgeous Halloween fabrics (on sale !).
I just had to find a cute project to use them and I decided to cover our sofa cushions for Halloween.

This turned out to be the perfect project for me because our lounge did not look right with our everyday cushions. The rest of the Halloween decorations were nice but our sofa did not quite match. Now it looks great and I fully intent to repeat this experience for Christmas because the covers were just so easy to make !

To make my job easier I decided to make simple enveloppe covers. I am sure there are lots of great tutorials out there but I just did my own thing, making sure the two back panels overlap.
For the back, you can choose to use the same fabric than the one for the front or a contrasting one which looks fun for kids cushions.

(Note: on the orange cover, I did not make the overlap big enough so I added a couple of snap buttons to make sure it closes properly. That was a quick and easy fix).

I don't sew much, but I managed to make 6 enveloppe covers in one evening so this is definitely a quick project.

The black bat cushion took a lot longer to make, simply because it takes some time to cut out all those bats ! Thankfully felt is really easy to use.
You might remember it from this post, you can find a tutorial for it here.

I hope this will inspire you to make some pillow covers yourself ! It adds such a nice touch to an interior to have matching and seasonal pillows.
