{Craft} Keepsake wood blocks

You might wonder what got into me today ??! Why would I frame those two tiny flowers ?
Well I will tell you that from the moment they were pick up these 2 flowers stopped being ordinary...
I could also say that I have had these flowers in my bag for the last 18 months, regularly wondering how I could display them...
Any guess ?

The sight of them brings me a lot of joy for they were the first flowers my daughter Chloe intentionally picked for me ! So you see, for me they are far from ordinary.

I have been wondering for some time how to display such tiny flowers...?
I wanted something small and rustic but expressing love and care at the same time.
So I came up with this weathered wooden block with 3D paper hearts. The inspiration for the 3D paper hearts came from the lovely artwork of Sweet Dimple I featured last week.

Here is a quick how to:

Use Mod Podge or similar to glue the flowers and the hearts to a smooth (sanded) wooden block.
Apply 2 coats of glue/varnish on top of the flowers and over the bottom hearts to secure and protect.

  1. This is too cute and I love the story of the flowers. I would love it if you would share it on Tout It Tuesday. http://www.claimingourspace.com/2012/04/tout-it-tuesday-3.html

  2. I love it! Your story of the flowers hit home for me. I actually wrote a children's story when I was in college that I've had on the back burner entitled "The Happiness of Mommie". It's about flowers bringing joy to mommies. Thanks so much for sharing at Whimsy Wednesdays.
