{Craft} Patriotic Wreath - 4th July

I am really excited by the project I am sharing today. I made this wreath out of paper stars for the 4th of July and I absolutely love it !!!

I made my first wreath last fall (see it here) and I liked having a wreath on my front door so much that I decided to make one for each season/holiday this year :)
So far I have made a snowflake wreath for our Frozen party (it will be a perfect Winter Wreath) and a Spring one that I still have to share.

So here is my take on a Patriotic Wreath !!! Hope you like it too :)
Scroll down for more pictures and the tutorial, enjoy !!!

The paper stars are really easy to make and here is a tutorial to re-create the wreath.

Supplies:
Wreath (I used a wire wreath but took out the inner and outer rings to make it thinner)
Red, white, blue card stock (I found the lovely blue one at Michael's)
Star template you can download here
Scissors
Hot glue gun
Ribbon
Optional: A scorer for easier folding
Optional: Distress Ink (I used the color Frayed Burlap)

Use the template to cutout stars in three different sizes
For each star, score from one point to opposite inner angle like shown by the line.
Repeat for all 5 points.
Fold on every line.
Pinch each point to get the 3D effect (it helps to pinch the points two by two)

If you wish to distress the stars, simply use a small sponge or applicator to apply the Distress Ink. I started by making the fold lines dark and then applied some lighter stains in between the points.

Once you have a selection of stars ready, you can hot glue them to the wire frame. Use a ribbon to hang (I used red burlap).

{Under The Sea Party} Photo Booth DIY

I hope you all had a fantastic Memorial Day week end !
I have hundreds of pictures to sort from the Under the Sea party, so it's going to be a few days before I can actually share these with you !!! But for now, I wanted to show you what I did for our Under the sea Photo Booth :)

These picture are such a good memento from the party, I love them !!!
I have to admit it's not always easy to get young children to have their pictures taken, especially during the party... So we do what we can on the day and I usually take more pictures of my children the following day. Without the friends and the excitement of the party, it's easier for them and I usually get good shots then.

For this Under The Sea photo booth, I created the wavy background using crepe paper streamers from Party City (in Royal blue, Ice blue and white).
The ruffled effect is super easy to do. All you need is a sewing machine. Simply feed the paper in, ruffling as you go:

Since we live in a rented house, it's always a challenge for me to find non damaging ways to hang decorations. I use tape a lot, but I sometimes get nasty surprises when I pull it out and the paint come off too !
So I have to share my new secret. I am not paid to talk about this product, I was just really pleased with it and though I would share.
For this party, Party City sent me a box of Scotch Restickable Mini Tabs and they are fabulous. They would not hold anything heavy but they are fantastic for streamers and small items. And absolutely no damage to my walls !
Best thing is they are re-usable, so I can keep on using them…

Now for the props, I found all the cutouts in the silhouette store. And I used coffee stirrers as holders.
We had a choice of scuba equipment (!), bubbles, and some special birthday boy signs :)

Disclosure: All words and opinions are my completely my own. The streamers were provided by Party City  at no cost. No other type of compensation was received for this review.

{Under the Sea} Party Preparations !

It's pretty busy here this week as I am finishing all the party preparations for Romain's Under the Sea Birthday on Sunday !!!

Here is a little look at what has been happening in my craft room recently…

This sweet little hat was created using printables from Mimi's Dollhouse. I used the chevron paper from the Under the Sea collection for the hat and the 2" circle topper for the number 3.
Here is the tutorial I used to make the hat. The rosette is made out of crepe paper (tutorial) and the bottom embellishment is tissue paper (tutorial).

The scuba cutouts for the photo booth were cut with my silhouette. I found the designs in the Silhouette store (Design ID #30281)

Holly from Mimi's Dollhouse created these adorable sand bucket cupcake wrappers especially for the party, they look fantastic !

There has also been been a lot of gluing, spray painting, and now I am off to decorate some cookies :)
I can't wait to share all the pictures with you.
Have a great week !

A Mint and Gold Dessert Table

I was very honored when my friend Katie asked me to help with the planning of her children's Communion and Confirmation. This is such an important family event. I really wanted to help make the celebration special.

Since it was the Communion and Confirmation of both her son and daughter, she picked the color mint which was perfect for both genders, and we agreed to add gold accents.
From the start she was set on Baby's Breath for the flowers, and I think the light bunches were just right for a Communion.

The treats and desserts included Gluten free chocolate cupcakes, a Vanilla sponge Ruffle cake, Meringues, Gold sugar cookies, chocolate dipped pretzels, popcorn and M&Ms.

The letter on the "God Bless" banner and cupcake toppers were embossed (see tutorial here).
